Tell.Me 2026 - 3rd International Symposium on Biographical Narratives in Arts, Media and Society

Resonance of Beijing: The Breathing City is a video art work built from field recordings collected in Beijing across different times of day and from different corners of the city. Without narration or a linear storyline, the work invites viewers to listen to urban rhythm, movement, and atmosphere as if the city itself were breathing. At the symbolic center of the piece is an ancient tree in Jingshan Park, imagined as a silent witness to duration, change, and memory since Tang Dynasty over 1000 years ago. The visual layer is developed through AI-generated imagery derived from an initial sketch and compositional study of the tree, then expanded into surrounding scenes and temporal transitions. By combining documentary sound with constructed visuality, the work explores the threshold between place, memory, and imagination.
